English is a class that involves reading, writing, speaking and listening. We learn many things from being able to create and support written arguments based on readings to being able to analyze and interpret things. The project was a persuasive/argument essay that was based off immigration with topics that are always being talked about.
Before starting the essay we read a book called “Enrique's Journey” which is based off a real life story, this book related to the many different topic choices that we were able to pick from. The assignment was to pick a topic and choose whether you were against it or supported the topic you choose. The process i went through to be able to succeed was go through different articles and get information to be able to support my outlook of the situation. I learned how to add footnotes for when you have a quotation you want to use to be able to support the claim you choose. Something that this “tells me about myself” is that i learn new things to help me improve and do better at that specific stuff.
Two of the Slo’s i demonstrated in this artifact was mastering skills needed in a carrier and college, this is helping by getting more better at the basics that i still struggle in, so i can be an expert at it. Thinking critically and creatively were also demonstrated by being able to add real life articles of the topic to the essay so it can sound different but still be good. A Slo i could have demonstrated better could of been the self directed learner who communicates effectively because i tend to add way more examples than actually explaining the situation.
Two of the most important things i learned were how to cite sources effectively and how books related to the topic can make it easier to get more information. The skills that i learned in this class will help me in the future so i can succeed in upcoming projects and can make it easier to do.
During the class of English 2 the learning objectives involve reading, writing, speaking and listening. We learn many things from being able to create and support written arguments based on readings to being able to analyze and interpret things. This is valuable to my future because it gets me prepared or my future and i have an idea of what colleges may ask for when it comes to writing an essay.. The project that I am submitting as an artifact for English 2 had the following learning objectives bringing real life experience into a essay about a real life problems that occurs a lot.
The assignment or project was about writing an essay that included a paragraph about the book, a real life experience and a personal experience about standing up and the difference it will make on someones life. The Process I went through to do this project and meet the learning objectives first started with looking for information about the topic and how peoples life changed by them being able to speak up that changed their lives.Throughout this process listed above I have realized that i learned and grown in the following ways by trying to think about the really important experiences that people have. These link back to the course goals and project goals with the following evidence of creating and supporting the written arguments based on the readings. This tells me the following about myself and how I learn by using past information and including it in newer projects that involve the same things.
The Two School Wide Learning Outcomes I demonstrated with this Artifact are Thinking critically and creatively and Mastering skills needed in career and college.I have demonstrated thinking critically and creatively by finding information that backs up my initial supporting idea of the topic. This is important because it gives readers my input on the overall outlook on how i support the topic. The Second SLO I demonstrated was Mastering skills needed in career and college by doing this it helps me know all the basic skills that will be needed so i'm able to move on and learn the more advance skills to be successful.when it comes to writing.
Overall the most important things I have learned in this class this year are how use footnotes effectively and how citing sources will help put the links to all the information that was used. These skills I have learned in this class will help me in the future by already knowing the steps when it comes citing information and using notes.
